A Perfect Picnic at Karkarook Park: Mayflower Brighton Residents Enjoy a Day in Nature

It was the ideal day for a picnic when a group of residents from Mayflower Brighton aged care took a bus trip to Karkarook Park wetlands. The weather couldn’t have been better—just the right balance between warmth and coolness, making it comfortable for everyone to spend time outdoors and soak in the beauty of nature.

Upon arrival, the residents were greeted by the tranquil surroundings of the wetlands. Formerly a sand mine, Karkarook Park has been transformed into a lush oasis, with a stunning lake that now serves as a haven for an array of water birds, fish, and native plants. The peaceful atmosphere was the perfect setting for the group to unwind and enjoy a relaxing afternoon.

After finding the perfect spot by the lake, the residents settled down to enjoy their picnic. They tucked into freshly made sandwiches, followed by a delightful fruit platter, which was packed with a variety of seasonal favourites. As they shared the meal, the group engaged in lively conversation, sharing stories, laughter, and memories, all while taking in the gorgeous views of the shimmering lake.

The calm waters of the lake attracted several types of water birds, adding to the scenic beauty of the day. Residents delighted in watching the ducks and other birdlife going about their business, as they basked in the serenity of the surroundings. The combination of good food, good company, and breathtaking views created a memorable experience for all.

Karkarook Park’s natural charm offered more than just a pretty view. It provided a peaceful escape from the daily routine and gave everyone a chance to connect with nature. The afternoon was the perfect balance of relaxation, connection, and a shared appreciation of the beautiful world around us—a wonderful way to spend time with friends.
