Mayflower Edith Bendall in Pascoe Vale was abuzz with excitement as residents celebrated Australia Day, enjoying a fun-filled day of activities and festivities.

The events kicked off with a lively doubles balloon tennis tournament in the lounge, affectionately renamed ‘Martha’s Arena.’

Residents cheered as the balloon bounced across the court. A traditional thong-throwing competition added to the fun, sparking belly laughs and good humour all around.

The Sizzle of Togetherness: BBQs, Sing-Alongs, and Stories

The highlight of the day was the traditional Aussie BBQ, where the irresistible sizzle and aroma of ‘snags on the barbie’ brought everyone together.

Over a delicious lunch, residents shared laughter and stories, strengthening bonds and creating cherished memories.

On January 26, Residents Were Treated to Even More Australiana Culinary Delights

Residents enjoyed lamingtons for morning tea and a proper Aussie roast lamb with pavlova and berries for dessert, making the day a

true celebration of Australian flavours.

Aussie Spirit Across Mayflower: Brighton and Reservoir Join In

Mayflower Brighton and Reservoir also embraced the Aussie spirit with their own unique festivities. Brighton residents enjoyed a thong-throwing competition and an energetic indoor cricket match, showcasing the quintessential Australian love for outdoor games.

A sausage sizzle and festive decorations completed the scene. At Reservoir, the day also featured an aromatic BBQ, afternoon tea with lamingtons, and a photo shoot with Australia Day hats and buntings.
