We Will Remember Them - Anzac Day Tributes

Anzac Day has become an integral part of our Australian culture and is a meaningful day to commemorate the fallen.

Over the various years of lockdowns in Melbourne, our communities have yearned to pay tribute to the ANZACs, often needing to find creative ways to do so.

Pictured above: Allen Wood, 103 years-young medic war veteran, reads the Ode of Remembrance.

However, this year, we were relieved to be able to come together and pay tribute as a broader community.

United, our Mayflower Community acknowledged all Australians and their loved ones who have served in war or peacekeeping operations.

The formal ceremonies to mark the day included reciting the Ode of Remembrance, observing a minute of silence and hearing the bugle call. Morning tea and a catch-up with friends completed the service.

Ode of Remembrance

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

Response:

We will remember them
Lest we forget
