A year for celebration

February heralded the colourful start of the 2019 Chinese New Year, designated as the Year of the Pig. This auspicious occasion was celebrated by residents at Mayflower Brighton with elements of the Chinese culture.

Residents were entertained and relaxed with cheerful celebration music from Lucia Yu, playing the Chinese Harp. The event was held in the Mayflower Aged Care Ada Hyde dining room, which was brightly decorated with red and yellow lanterns and messages of luck and prosperity for the year ahead.

The entertainment wasn’t limited to traditional Chinese music either, with residents particularly enjoying Lucia’s delightful rendition of Waltzing Matilda.
