Discover The Benefits Of Puppet Therapy, and How You Can Help Residents Living With Dementia
Residents at Mayflower Reservoir were recently treated to another visit from Puppets Alive, and it was a day they won't forget in a hurry.
This time, they attended a puppet show, which had everyone laughing and enjoying the delightful performance, with one character, Elvis, being especially popular with the crowd.
After the show, everyone was able to participate in a 1:1 puppet therapy session, which brought even more joy and laughter into the room. The love-themed show was a perfect way for residents to connect with each other and with the wider community.
Why puppets?
Research suggests that puppet therapy can have various advantages, particularly for people living with dementia. Some benefits include boosting socialisation skills, decreasing isolation and depression, as well as enhancing feelings of happiness and overall well-being.
Puppet therapy offers the same comfort and companionship benefits as pet therapy that many pet lovers enjoy while patting their furry friends.
Social activities and events like this one are just one example of the many ways we strive to enrich residents’ lives. We are committed to creating a warm and welcoming home environment where residents can enjoy themselves, make new friends, and live life their way.
