A Taste of Italy: Mayflower Reservoir's Festa della Repubblica
The vibrant spirit of Italy came alive at Mayflower Reservoir as they celebrated the Italian National Day - Festa della Repubblica.
On the second day of June each year, the community honours the historic 1946 referendum that marked Italy's transition from a monarchy to a Republic after 85 years.
While the grand celebrations unfolded in Rome, the Mayflower Reservoir aged care community set out to create its own memorable festivities in honour of the day.
With joyful Italian music filling the air, the aroma of freshly baked biscotti, and the rich flavours of Italian coffee, residents embraced the spirit of Italy. Laughter, singing, and even a little dancing added to the joyous atmosphere.
They also had the talented Frank Rizzo grace them with his enchanting voice, serenading them with beloved Italian ballads and favourites such as Dean Martin’s 1953 hit “That’s Amore!”.
Residents, family members, and team members came together to share in the festivities, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
At Mayflower Reservoir, our team, along with residents, believe in celebrating the rich cultural tapestry that makes their community so special - and Festa della Repubblica was a perfect opportunity to do just that.
Mayflower Reservoir recently celebrated Festa della Repubblica with all the Italian splendour it deserved! The community came together, enjoying delightful food, captivating performances, and the warmth of friendship.
