'Reflections' Series Shows Who We Really Are on the Inside

Taking the time to remember residents in care have stories to tell is a defining part of the role as a care giver.

Each person is a person with a rich and diverse background and may see themselves differently to how we see them today.

At Mayflower we feel it is so important to approach each person with empathy and respect, while empowering each individual to stay connected to who they really are and what matters most to them.

This striking series is titled 'Reflections', and was taken by award winning photographer Tom Hussey, who was inspired by a US World War II veteran who said, “I can’t believe I am going to be 80, I feel like I just came back from the war. I look into the mirror, and I see this old guy.” Hussey used models to cleverly represent how each older person felt inside.

This moving quote and accompanying photographs are a great reminder that we may look different to the way we feel inside as we age or go through changes in life.
