Brighton’s Café Perla Gives Back to Many

On the first day of Stage 3 restrictions, our Brighton Mayflower Community welcomed a new family member – Café Perla.

It was not the best day to open a new café, but the proprietors quickly adjusted their planned menu to cater for a take-away service, and happily got on with the job.

Café Perla is owned and operated by Robbie and wife Perla.

This incredible team have been going above and beyond to bring joy and delicious food to our community of residents and staff.

In the first COVID-19 wave, when restrictions eased, the pair was excited to be able to welcome residents, family and staff to dine in – and praises were heard far and wide about the delicious food, friendly service and great coffee.

Now we are in our second wave of COVID-19 and living in Stage 4 restrictions, the dynamic team wanted to make sure our retirement residents and staff were still able to enjoy their great food.

This is when the vast new take-away menu was born.

Perla and Robbie worked hard to create a new takeaway menu at incredibly affordable prices. These delicacies are then delivered at no cost, to our retirement living residents at Mayflower Brighton.

Our new Café Proprietors love building connections with our Mayflower Community, and very clearly are PASSIONATE about what they do, working 7 days to provide sustenance and a comforting meal to so many.

With a giving heart, the Perla team have given many free coffees to staff members, to help brighten the day of our frontline workers.

We are so lucky to have Café Perla and we give a very big “Thank You” to Robbie and Perla for their dedication and incredible service.

They have opened a new café in the most challenging of times, and adjusted their business model many times for the benefit of residents, all while taking it all in their stride.

We can’t wait until Café Perla is back to normal operation where our entire Mayflower Community can come to visit.
